SHREVEPORT, LA — The Shreveport Police Union filed suit Tuesday in Caddo Parish’s 1st Judicial District Court against the City of Shreveport, Police Chief Wayne Smith, a deputy chief and an assistant chief, alleging officers were forced to work overtime.
The lawsuit alleges that Smith, Deputy Chief Michael Tyler and Assistant Colette Kelly forced Shreveport Police Department officers to work overtime under the threat of punishment or disciplinary action. The Union filed the petition individually and on behalf of all police officers currently employed by the department.
